Overthinking Things I’m Sure, But Still…

TheStatePresserCBLike most Sundays, this morning I picked through The State Newspaper while watching one of my long time favorites, ‘Meet The Press.’ Of course I went straight to the real estate section. The very first press release touted that of the Top 10 real estate producers in The Midlands, five are with Coldwell Banker United, REALTORS. Pretty cool. Then, ugh…

The article goes on to read, between Jan. 1 – March 15, we ALL had a combined total of 20 sales with a combined volume of $7 million. My jaws clinched, head shook, and I busted out with a, “What in the world are they doing??! (I think I scared my wife a little). I took a pic and immediately texted it to the Coldwell Banker brass.

Here’s the thing. Mistakes are made all the time, and I get it. That said, it was only two days ago when I posted to a few thousand folks that our team hit 100 closings for the year. I know I’m making a mountain out of a molehill, but even if this confuses my friends (or the public) a little bit, it bothers me. Further, to anyone who reads both stories, the press release made a fibber out of my blog post.

To be clear, as of March 15, 2013 the collection of REALTORS in The State’s article had 79 closings with almost $20 million in volume.

Even though Coldwell Banker supplied the incorrect numbers, they may request a retraction. Who knows, they may just let it go.

Even though a little PR damage has been done (in my mind, anyway), I’ve typed my peace which makes me feel better about it.
