A few days ago, Amanda and I found ourselves at what has become a familiar event. The Kiwanis Club of Columbia once again hosted the incredibly well attended “Bill LaMotte Memorial Golf Tournament.” The tournament benefits the Ray Tanner Foundation, and the Reese Holbrook Win Anyway Foundations, along with the Club’s youth services initiatives, respectively.
For the last four of five years our close friend and one of our favorite mortgage lending partners, Becky Craven of First Citizens Bank, invited us to join her team, along with friend and fellow Realtor, Thomas Shumpert, of Next Home Realty.
The night before the tournament, Becky and I attended a reception at the LaMotte home together. It was thoughtful, meaningful, and fun. Folks had a big time giving speeches and talking about Mr. LaMotte. I appreciate Paula Lamotte McCutchen opening her home and was humbled to be in attendance.
As for the tournament, there were tons of laughs and lost balls, but compared to our previous rounds together we actually played pretty well. That said, I’ll take this paragraph to announce how impressed I am with this event. It is awesome and it is fun. You can feel the energy from the Kiwanis Club and quite frankly, the adoration, admiration, and support of Mr. LaMotte’s family, and the pride in giving to the Ray Tanner and Holbrook Win Anyway Foundations.
Amanda, Thomas, and I are always proud to be on Becky’s team. We were especially honored this year as Becky serves as president of this well established and respected organization. I’m not a member so I may be out of line here, but I think Becky is the first female president of The Kiwanis Club of Columbia. Pretty cool!!!!!!
Becky and her husband Chase, along with my wife, Jennifer, have known each other a long time. I’m proud of and impressed with my friend.
This all said, I’d like for Columbia’s blogosphere to know that the Bill LaMotte Memorial Golf Tournament is an event to put on your calendar in 2018!
