We had a special guest stop by Keller Williams Palmetto today!
A few years ago, Tara Billings, and I got to know one another through the Junior League as she served as Fund Development Chair. Fast forward today and she and I have become friends and bounce ideas off of each other about all sorts of things including career “stuff” and community enhancement/improvement opportunities.
Yesterday, Tara reached out to me to see if she could stop by our office to help bring awareness to the League’s Little Black Dress Initiative.
Tara hadn’t seen my blog post about #AskMeAboutMyDress but I thought it was a great idea and was happy to participate.

It’s also to be noted that after the initiative many of the participants will be donating their dresses to women who may need one. Further still (but I haven’t confirmed yet), I think Ed Robinson Laundry & Dry Cleaning is going to dry clean the dresses before they are distributed, accordingly. That is very cool and a big THANK YOU to the folks at Ed Robinson!!!

What is the Little Black Dress Initiative?
The Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI) is a poverty awareness and fundraising campaign that underscores the Junior League of Columbia’s mission to end the cycle of poverty in the Midlands.
Take part in the campaign by making a donation today!
Each participant wears one black dress for five days to illustrate the effects poverty can have on a woman’s access to resources, confidence and opportunities. Or, if a black dress doesn’t fit the participant’s lifestyle, she may wear some variation of a black ensemble throughout the initiative (e.g. black scrubs, black skort with black top, etc.).
Participants will receive a LBDI button to wear each of the five days and will spread the word about the campaign through social media using #JLCLBDI #AskMeAboutMyDress
