KW | Renew, Energize, Donate Day!

Thursday is Keller William’s National “RED Day!”

What is RED Day, you ask? “Introduced in 2009, RED Day, which stands for Renew, Energize and Donate, is Keller Williams Realty’s annual day of service. Each year on the second Thursday of May, associates celebrate Mo Anderson’s birthday by spending the day away from their businesses serving worthy organizations and causes in their communities. RED Day is just another example of our commitment to each other and to the cities and towns where we live and work. Join us!”

Mo Anderson is one of the Grand-Poobahs of Keller Williams Realty International. While her official title is Vice-Chairman of the Board, her aka is the “Velvet Hammer.” I’ve seen her in action at various events, and the name fits. She’s also the author of,  A Joy Filled Life: Lessons From A Tenant Farmer’s DaughterShe’s also hilarious. Oh yeah, and she doesn’t like cussing. :-O

This year, given the Covid-19 restrictions on what we can do as a group in person, we decided to host an online style telethon whereby, if you’re inclined and able, provide our family and friends with the opportunity to easily donate one dollar up to a zillion bucks to Harvest Hope Food Bank on Thursday, May 14, 2020.

The Chair of this year’s RED Day committee, Eric Tucker, along with our Broker In Charge, Lori Carnes, and fellow REALTOR Meredith Honeycutt, and I toured Harvest Hope on Shop Road to get a first-hand vibe of what’s going on. Truth told I thought “the line” that was backed up all the way down Shop Road towards I-77 was a bunch of folks donating to the cause. I was incorrect. The long line that was being directed by police officers and orange cones was for folks receiving donations from Harvest Hope. I was taken aback and felt like a straight-up dumba**.  That all said, since I participated in that exercise, I have a new respect and appreciation of the need for what’s happening at Harvest Hope and our community.

Having witnessed what I saw combined with KW’s RED Day, be ready from a call or text from one of our office-mates or me as we attempt to ease some of the angst of our hurting community. Know this – The way Harvest Hope does it, $1.00 can provide five meals for those in need. Let that sink in for a sec…………….

I want to recognize in my small way the hard work of our new, awesome KW franchise. I love this company and all of what Mo Anderson helped create.

Thank you, friends, for anything you can do!!!
