Friend, Morris Lyles; Realtor of The Year.

morrislylesA week or so ago our local professional association held its annual holiday party. The CCRA (Central Carolina Realtor Association) event was at The Capital City Club, and while I was unable to attend this year, I know the room was filled with the best and most committed professionals of our industry.

During the event, I heard the news that my friend, Morris Lyles, was awarded “Realtor of The Year.” I was proud.

Early in my career Morris and I worked in the same office together (I wrote “my career” because I’m not sure how long he’s been a Realtor). I’ve always thought a lot of Morris, and even though we don’t work under the same roof anymore, our relationship hasn’t skipped a beat. He’s top shelf, and anytime Amanda, Elizabeth, or I receive or present an offer/contract to him, we have a natural peace of mind on the front end. In our world, this is a big deal, and a productive trait.

In short, Morris is solid. Not only is he solid, but he’s also a giver, and I’m into that. Here’s an example: Amanda and I needed some CCRA required continuing education hours. The room was packed with Realtors that waited till the last minute to turn in the proper credits. Our teacher? Morris.

Here’s the real rub of what I’m getting at; Being the top producer in a real estate market is awesome. There are two/three categories in our industry for this: Sales Volume, Sides/Units, GCI (Gross Commission Income). That’s straight up, “sales.” On the flip side, the “Realtor Of The Year” Award is voted on by industry peers. In short, this is a very distinctive honor.

Congratulations to my friend and colleague, Morris. Well done.
