Check Out Quail Ridge Neighborhood!

100 Tarawood Drive - Photo 8

Elizabeth Woodring Ross and I put 100 Tarawood Drive on the market this week and it is AWESOME!

4,200 ish sq/ft with 6 BRs with 5 Baths, a big yard & wowzers! Tarawood is a sharp stunner that enjoys luxe everything.

Homes don’t come for sale often in Quail Ridge Neighborhood because, well, it’s just that popular and it’s proximity to Lexington, Downtown Columbia, SC & the highway system.

If you or anyone you know would like to know more about this beautiful home, please call/text Elizabeth at 803-917-3889 or email Elizabeth@TheNeighborhoodRE.com. As you can see from the pics, it’s a pleasure to show!

Thank you!

Keller Williams Palmetto Took A Pop!

In the grand scheme of national happenings on Jan. 6, 2021, this is small, as I don’t think anyone was hurt. That said, a big a** BOOM rocked our building today that ended up with a three or four-car collision.

I wasn’t there when this happened, but I think I young person ran the red light and triggered a chain reaction. Thank goodness the person that works in the office that got smacked wasn’t there at the time.

As you can see from the 2nd pic, our Market Center location is stellar. We are in the center of everything and our REALTORS can be on their way to anything Downtown, Lexington, Irmo, Chapin, Lake Murray, and NE Columbia super fast. That said, we have a lot of lanes zooming by our office (which is awesome!) from Huger St. coming off of I-126, and the one-way section of Taylor Street.

When “location, location, location” equates to “traffic count,” I suppose this is inevitable every now and then.

I haven’t heard of any injuries and hope everyone is OK!

Onward!

Change Your Habits, Change Your Life.

As we move towards a super productive 2021, I’d love to introduce everyone to The ONE Thing, and the 66 Day Challenge. One of the concepts to live by is, “People do not decide their futures, they decide their habits and their habits decide their futures.”

The ONE Thing breaks this down into an action plan. That all said, when it comes to physical health, tennis has become my jam.

This won’t be a big deal to my F3 friends, marathon peeps, or CrossFitters, but today I busted over 20,000 steps and logged almost six hours on the court.

The 2ish PM number was a three-set doubles session. The 100-200 burn is me feeding balls, clinic style, to my three girls, and the 5:30 is a singles hit fest with a well-trained corner banging 22-year-old.

Are you ready to identify your lead domino to form your new habits?

More on this…on the way!

Gasparilla Bowl, Pirates, & Tally-Ho!

Gasparilla Pirate Festival - WikipediaGasparilla: Worth The Hype?

Despite the 2-8 record, it looks as though the 2020 Gamecocks are headed to what was formerly, proudly known as a, “Bowl Game.”

I’ve heard and read for years now whereby this extra game, no matter the excellence, or lack thereof, is worth participating in. We read, “It’s good for the players to have the extra time on the field, and good for the coaches to see what’s what.” For me, I don’t understand why we need four 15 minute quadrants of footballing, many hours away from our facilities to play a foe we’re likely never going to play again needs to happen. I mean, that’s hauling a lot of people and equipment. That said, I don’t know the cost/benefit for our program, school, and/or conference. Further, I don’t know crap, for that matter, and that’s why I’m doing what I do and am happy to let the pros named Shane Beamer do what they do.

Now to what’s really going on at this point. WTF is a Gasparilla Bowl, and why are we there? HERE YOU GO! Also, HERE YOU GO!

After reading those posts, I’m beginning to understand why UofSC is a good fit for The Gasparilla Bowl! Some of me wants to remind Gamecocks/Sandlappers of our own famous party pirate, Johannas Fripp, of Fripp Island, and shout out to our party roots, “Tally Ho!!!”

Thank you!

Intense Class(es) & Mr. Friendly’s..

Remembering Don Fowler - College of Arts and Sciences | University of South Carolina

One of my best friends in the world whom I’ve known since I was in the 2nd grade, Trav Robertson, texted David Adams, and me, “Don just passed away.”

When I received the text, I sat up a little and as my heart sank, I showed Jennifer. She immediately informed her former boss, Warren Tompkins (R).

I can’t explain through this keyboard the events that have happened since I met Don Fowler, Carol, David, Jennifer, Pamela, and so many others. That’s another story, as this is not about that.

Two things about Don and me –

1- I got to see Don almost every time I went to lunch at Mr. Frienldy’s in 5 Points. For a while, Trav Robertson, David Adams, Crawford Cook, and I would meet on Fridays for lunch, and Don would be there with whatever crew he was with for the day. Every time we locked eyes and got to side hug, I’d say, “Hey, Professor! It’s Franklin Jones…”

*Fun fact – The reason I’d say, “Hey professor, it’s Franklin….” is because a lot of people confuse me with David Adams, and I understand that. One time he stopped me in mid-sentence and said, “Franklin, I know who you are.” He was saying, “Stop saying that…”

2- I straight up dropped his Political Science class. His class was 410+ Senior level & I was scared of it. I needed three hours to graduate, but not those three. Professor Fowler was expecting a big ass deep thought type essay and I was more interested in my girlfriend, fraternity life, hanging out at the Russell House, and Tecmo-Bowl.

That was probably a dumba^^ decision. That said, and through our sequence of events that began later in 1996, I learned more from Don in the actual political field than I would have in the classroom.

The three classes I did attend were awesome. It was obvious that he wasn’t just “teaching,” he was telling real-time, live, life stories. I remember one class where-by he invited S.C. Republican Party Chairman Henry McMaster to speak. Trey Walker was with now Gov. McMaster and it was a fantastic hour or so. Truth told, this was at a time Rush Limbaugh was on TV and I thought Rush was right about almost everything. That all said, durning that hour, I didn’t care what Henry and Trey had to say, I just thought it was incredible that Don Fowler, whom would later become National Co-Chair with Sen. Chris Dodd, under Bill Clinton’s presidency, would allow high officials from the other side to have the podium/microphone of his class of hundreds of college students.

Now that I wrote that paragraph, I’d love to ask him about that today…

That all said, my most vivid memories of Don will likely be from Mr. Friendly’s New Southern Cafe. Running into him on Friday afternoons was always a treat. He’d always be in a suit or a blazer, and always have time for this young sales professional, that enjoys talking politics, and looked up to him.

I don’t know what I can or should say on this dippy little blog to my friend, Don Fowler, other than, “Thank you, Professor.”

Welcome Back Home, Beamer Family!

Imma just get right to it: I’m a fan of Shane Beamer being the Head Coach of the UofSC Gamecock Footballing Program.

I watched the presser at my desk and read a lot of the comments. Some were dumb af, and some were deep football strategery. That said, two fun ones really stood out from the rest. (and then the consensus ones).

1 – “Get those superstars on the sidelines on Saturdays.” In the presser, Shane mentioned some Gamecock greats that lobbied or rooted him on as the man for the job. This would be a big deal. I’m aware that most of the big dogs the commenter was speaking of are currently playing on Sundays. That said, if the players that Shane recruited or played when Shane was a coach here would make an appearance when they could, would receive an incalculable return for the program.

2 – “This is a coach I can get drunk and fight for!” Well, that’s somethin’…and if a tailgater is fired up and willing to walk up the steps and yell for Shane & Co., that’s awesome!!!!!!!!!

While my shortlist of two points may be good reading, here’s the thing, and the underlying theme of what is going on across Gamecock Nation.

Shane is passionate about this. He wants to be here. This attitude is a big deal for his players, staff, program, and all Gamecocks. Truth told it’s a big deal for the Midlands.  This is a culture thing.

To put this in real estate terms, the football program is the front porch of the university. The University of South Carolina is the front porch of The Midlands of South Carolina.

I got to know the Beamers when they were selling their home in Greenhill Parrish. I know first-hand that they love Columbia, and damn’t, that’s a big deal, and quite frankly, the difference for me.

Given all this, at the moment, I don’t care if he wins or loses…until he does. Until one happens, I think we have a man and family we can rally around and give a chance, and a familial push, to take us to the next levels.

Congratulations to Shane, Emily, and their beautiful family as they return to Columbia, SC!

Thank You!
